When my family came out to visit me in the Pacific Northwest, one of the places we visited was Orcas Island. While Mom and Ab were napping, Dad and I traveled to the shore to do some great exploring. In our adventure tucked under one of the rocks was a healthy sea star! Being that I had only ever seen sea stars in captivity, the joy of finding one was euphoric.
Some of the best things I have done in my professional development have occurred only briefly. While not an extensive adventure, I try to take these "Sea Star" opportunities whenever I can to better myself as an environmental educator.
